The city’s rich cultural diversity, shaped by both local talent and a strong international artistic presence, became a living classroom for Escobar. Surrounded by artists from around the world, he absorbed new ideas and developed a distinctive visual language rooted in Neo-Expressionism, infused with a modern, sophisticated edge. Wandering through downtown San José, Escobar found inspiration in the layered urban landscape: street art spread across façades ranging from colonial architecture to modern structures. These encounters opened his eyes to the expressive power of the city itself, where history and modernity coexist in bold, spontaneous dialogue. His artistic journey was further shaped by travels through Spain, where new perspectives deepened both his thought and his work.
